1. Minimal Data Collection

Parallel Reader is designed to be privacy-friendly. We do not require you to create an account, provide your email, or create a password to use the core features of the application.

2. How We Use Data

  • Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to understand how our website is used (e.g., which pages are popular). This service is cookie-free and does not track your browsing history across other websites. It aggregates data anonymously.
  • Product Analytics: We create a random anonymous visitor ID and a temporary session ID to understand whether visitors start, complete, and return to stories. We also record page paths, referring sites, campaign parameters, device language, screen size, and browser type. We do not use this information for advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • IP Addresses & Security: We do not store your raw IP address. We store a salted cryptographic hash of it to enforce usage limits, measure aggregate usage when an anonymous ID is unavailable, and prevent abuse. The hash is not intended to identify you directly.
  • Local Storage, Session Storage & Cookies: We use browser storage and functional cookies to retain language preferences, anonymous analytics identifiers, first-touch campaign attribution, and the current session. A session expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. This information is not used for advertising.

3. AI Processing

When you generate a story, your topic and language preferences are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate the content. We do not send any personal identifiers with this request.

4. Your Rights

The core reader does not require a name, email address, or account. Because analytics identifiers are anonymous, we generally cannot connect them to a specific person. You can clear locally stored identifiers and preferences through your browser's site-data controls.
